Equipped with the punch of classic Sepultura and a flair for sinister melodies of the deadly kind a la Dissection and Death, the clean vocals tower above everything else, sometimes emotional like Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost), sometimes powerful like Tom G. Warrior (Celtic Frost). The alternative influences of the debut are relegated to the margins here in favour of an overwhelming heaviness, but are absorbed into the sometimes complex song structures and lend them a catchiness that is hard to resist. On ‘Banner Of Defeat’, Neorite create their own epic, dark version of thrash metal with doom elements and are not discouraged by genre barriers.
